Evernote in The Classroom
Evernote can be integrated into any classroom curriculum, from higher education to elementary education:
- You can literally plan out every detail of your class day by using the tag marker on the Evernote application. The use of tags can help you plan out day by day lesson plans or lesson plans on a weekly basis. For example, most schools use the first week to go over handbooks, get the students comfortable in the classroom, go over rules for the classroom, and get to know the teacher and their fellow students. Information for this week can be tagged as "Week 1."
- You, as the teacher, can compile a list of achievements for the students that can be shared with students, parents, other teachers, and the administration.
- As a teacher, you are always gaining new insight into learning. Evernote can be the place to jot down these new ideas, so that they won't be forgotten or overlooked.
- Use Evernote to keep grading templates, rubrics, or assessment information in order to save time while assessing your students.
- Sometimes, as a teacher, you have to be absent. There's no way around getting sick, having a sick child, etc. Use Evernote to keep the class on track by sharing your notebook with the students so that they know exactly what they are suppose to be doing. This can make it easier on the substitute, the students, and the teacher.
- During class, you can literally share a notebook with your students with the press of a button. As a public notebook, this makes the notebook able to be viewed not only for the students, but for their parents as well.
- A lot of teachers use the whiteboard to put down important information for the class. Not all students write at the same pace. A simple snapshot of the whiteboard can be uploaded by the teacher and viewed by the students very easily.
- Evernote can be used as a place to store handouts, tests, study guides, assignments, and worksheets. These can be easily tagged, put in a separate notebook, or searched through the search engine on Evernote.
- Scan tests into Evernote so that there is always a "paper" trail to turn back to.
- Keep track of notes or research that you want to share with your students with the web-clipping tool.
